Wild card wednesday

It's time for another look at this months steampunk card kit. This week I wanted to focus more on the cool gears embossing folder from darice that was included in the kit. The background paper is left over from the other projects. I found the cream paper just way to bright so I sprayed it with Dylusions melted chocolate spray (and soaked up the extra). I put some buttons onto the centres of some of the gears. I also used ink on the washi tape to tone it down a bit. The black lines are drawn on with a black sharpie pen.

Other: sentiment and punch from Stampin' UP.

Tuesday's Temptations

So as some of you know the add-ons for this month's kit was a package of Sn@p pages. I did not know when I ordered them that they were for the Sn@p album and they do not fit the ink Paislee album we got in November. So I trimmed the side with the holes and used them as a background. I did not use a sketch or anything from Pinterest for this one...I just threw this together. I used one of the pages as a mask and misted the one with the blue chevrons (that was the mask-technically it is another Sn@p page) and I added some texture to the page with a piece of ribbon type thingy at the top behind the strip of arrows.  I like how it turned out. Let's see you use one of the Sn@p pages or something not intended as a background.

Finally Friday~May 17th

Well, here we are at another Friday. This week my layout is one that I did at the Scraptures National Scrapbooking Day Crop. I took a peruse through Christa's copy of Creative Scrappers Creating With Sketches Vol 2 and found a 2-page layout that I liked, so I decided to do that since I seem to be doing lots of single page layouts lately. Here is my take on the sketch.

Steampunk owl for WCW

I did a new technique on this card... watercolour with distress markers.

I added the stampendous steampunk owl to the kit and stamped it on watercolour paper. (Note: I tried with regular cardstock and it did not work.)  You then colour around the edges a bit and with a wet paintbrush move the distress ink until you get the look you want.  After I was done cut the owl out.

When I put the card together I still wanted the branch in it, so I stamped it on the card and then pop dotted the watercoloured image over top of it. I stamped the clock from the kit onto the background and a couple others but you can't see them due to the layered flowers & buttons from the kit and some of the stickers were added as well. The pins were ones I had from a while ago. The clock on the patterned paper was cut with a craft knife to layer the cardstock behind it.

Here is Jennifer McGuire doing the watercolour technique

Let's see you add a watercolour image to your card or project this week.

Tuesday's Temptations

Well, I have been sorely slacking on my scrapping duties. I was supposed to do a bi-monthly Sketch on Saturdays but life and home renovations seem to get in my crafty way, and for that I apologize! But I must admit the 24/7 line from Simple stories has made this months work a joy and ease to do. I scoped out the Simple Stories website and came across this layout. I really liked the little embellishment touches so I copied it almost to a Tee. Let's see what you come up with from this layout.....

Finally Friday~May 10

Well, here we are at another Friday.....YAY FOR FRIDAYS!!!!!!

This week I choose to do an art journal page. I choose to do a page about me...since today is my birthday! Actually when I did the page, I wasn't even thinking about my birthday...hence the number 42 being crossed out. I actually forgot that I was turning 43! Hee Hee....you are only as old as you feel I guess.

My challenge to you this week is to do something about you, since we as scrapbookers tend to not include ourselves in our paper crafting.

Wild Card Wednesday

Hi Chelle here again. This week I actually made a card using the card kit (next week I might even do the same).
I did start with a cardmaps sketch but then started moving things around until I like how they were placed. I did add some stuff to the card that wasn't in the kit..Tim Holtz stamps, tickets, and brads. I made the grunge rose myself (see earlier blog post for directions).

I challenge you to make your own embellishment for your card.
