Happy Mother's Day to Everyone!!

How are you celebrating Mother's Day? Do you get to have a little bit of scrappy time today? I hope so! My family decided to give me the day to myself! So I am in the hobby room creating a layout with the May kit which will be revealed in a few days!

Here is a layout I did of my beautiful kids. I'll tell you, they sure make it easy to be a mom! They are all great kids. I couldn't ask for more. They give me much to be proud of!

I have someone else who I am thinking a lot about today and that is my mom. My mother is one of the people I have admired most all my life for so many reasons that I couldn't even begin to list. Here's to you mom! I love you so much!

Happy Mother's day!!!

She's going to kill me for posting this layout of her but there is so much meaning in this layout. I pull it out and look at it all the time as it reminds me of the many hardships that she has overcome in her life to finally be happy and live her life as she deserves to live it. The smile you see in this picture is a reflection of how she sees her world now...peaceful and joyful.

Happy Mother's Day to you all!!!

NSD at Scrap~tures!!!

Happy NSD to all you scrappers in scrappy land!!

To celebrate, we decided to give you all a project to do just for you! To create an album or a few layouts about you!

Here is what Laura-Lee posted in the forums for today's project challenge...

A couple of weeks ago you may remember we talked a little bit about our plan for today and I would like to review our mini album for you to work on today. Please make this your own and create it to your personal style. When I make/made the pages for my album I think about what the reader (my grand children?) want to hear, so I try to include things about the way things are today and the way I am. I also look at it another way.....if I was looking at a personal diary of my grandma what would l love to read in it? I would kill for one of these of my grandmother right now so I am trying to create just that for my family...later. Do remember that it is yours and if you don't want to make it like a diary then don't, keep it light.

So here is the original post about the topic ideas if you would like to review and then there will be examples of pages from what a few of us here have competed. Please feel free to make up your own page ideas as well.

I hope you enjoy creating this today.

Today we are creating a mini album in celebration of you and who you are. While it is not a requirement to make the mini album to be entered into the draw, it will however make a beautiful keepsake. Other options will be available to those who do not wish to make an entire album but simply a few pages.

Many things can be called a mini album, you can have actual alum that is 6x6 or 8x8 or you can just pile a bunch of papers together, punch a hole or two and add ribbon to secure together. Whatever you choose will be unique. We want you to start thinking about what style of album you would like to create for yourself so you have enough time to purchase a small one or to purchase materials to construct your own.

We would also like to tell you about some of the topics we will be covering so you can gather the necessary photos and journaling ideas, and then they are at your finger tips on May 7..

Start thinking about photos that cover the following topics, remember you can make it yours by expanding on the idea topics as I’ve shown in brackets.

Intro page (baby photo with place of birth, parents, etc)
A day in my life (where do you go on a typical day, take photos)
My Favorite Things (can be material items, holidays or otherwise)
Things you don't know about me (facts or feelings)
All of my Quirks (good, bad or funny)
When I was a Kid (remembering, thoughts, things you said or did)
A Life-Changing Moment (or life lessons, things of importance)
Reveal the Real You (or events that have shaped you)
My Circle of Friends (or my family)
This I Believe (could be favorite quotes or your religious beliefs)
I am Unique
Person/People who Inspire Me (could be anything that inspires…i.e. religion)
A Letter to Myself
In my spare time (yea a topic about your art of scrapbooking, or other hobbies)
Been there done that or things I’ve seen/done
My world today (today’s headlines, price of gas, technology, etc)

Here is what Laura-Lee put together for herself...

January 7th Challenge

As you all know, Kristine Davidson from http://www.creativescrappers.blogspot.com/ is one of our guests this month. She has given us this challenge....

The Table of Traditional and Modern Anniversary Gifts indicates that the 7th Anniversary could be a Desk Set or Wool and Copper. I selected the option of a Desk Set! I love stationary items
and a calendar to start off 2011 was perfect!!!

I've added the instructions in a PDF format for you to download as you wish and use it to create your own desktop calendar
It's easy and takes about 30-45 minutes or less ;-)

Please make sure you share your projects with us ... I'd love to see them!

Click here to download the calendar instructions.

Click here to download the calendar print out.
Don't forget to leave us a link to your project!

New Month, New Challenges...

Here we are again at a new month which brings some new amazing challenges!!!

Wally's sketch challenge this month gives us this awesome sketch from Pagemaps!!!
Kelly's challenge this month is to use layers. She'd like to see at least 3 layers in one spot. Isn't her example just gorgeous!

Ellen's card challenge is to use this sketch and create Christmas cards!!!!

Denise's challenge this month is to do a card or a layout with Thanksgiving in mind or something you are grateful for! Here is her beautiful example!

I also want to tell you about the New & Exciting way you can win monthly challenges here at Scrap~tures!
Each month, as you know, we post a Master Challenge Thread in the Master Challenge forum. What we are going to ask you to do is grab a spot in that thread and each time you complete a challenge, please post it in the challenge thread but don't forget to go to your spot in the master challenge thread and add it to your list. This is how we will know what challenges you have completed and each challenge completed gets you an entry into the monthly prize draw!!! So for example, if you have completed 4 challenges for the month, your name will go into the hat 4 times!!! So the more you complete, the more of a chance you have at winning!
BUT THAT'S NOT ALL-->Aside from this, starting with the October challenges, we are going to also offer an end of year grand prize!!! How you can win this is participate in as many challenges as you can throughout the year! In your siggie line, keep a running total of how many Scrap~tures challenges you complete. At the end of the year, I will search for the top 10 people who completed the most challenges throughout the year and their name will be entered for the grand prize.
In January, I will draw for the 2010 year and then we will start fresh for 2011.The challenges can be any of the challenges that have been posted throughout the month. So come on ladies!!! Let's get those challenges done!!
So if you haven't registered in our forums, head on over using the link at the top and sign up. You don't want to miss out on this fantastic opportunity!!

Last Day of *Summer*

Since most of the kids go back to school tomorrow, today is the 'last day of summer' for a lot of us parents. How are you spending your day??
One thing that comes with back to school, is maybe more of a routine and more time to get some scrapping done. I know a lot of us don't have the time in the summer to devote to our hobby..with taking the kids here and there to keep them busy.
SO, in order to get us all back to some scrapping, we have planned an online crop , taking place September 24, 25 and 26..mark that date on your calendars, you won't want to miss it!
There will be challenges, games and maybe even a few prizes..but most of all...lots of inspiration coming your way!
If you aren't a member of our forums, please sign up so you don't miss out! It's free and incredibily easy to do so~~
Hope you see you there!
